St Matthew Passion at Garsington Studios

The English Concert is returning to Garsington, but it’s not yet time for a summer opera. On Maundy Thursday in 2027, TEC will perform Bach’s St Matthew Passion, directed by Harry Bicket, in celebration of the work’s 300th anniversary year. One of Bach’s most admired compositions, St Matthew Passion is an oratorio setting of the chapters of Matthew’s Gospel that detail the last days of Christ’s life.

If you would like to stay for supper afterwards, an informal buffet-style meal will be served in the café after the performance at shared tables. The two-course menu is £40 per person and includes a glass of house wine (see below for details).
