Support Handel for All – The English Concert

Handel for All is our project to film the complete works of Handel and release them for free, for anyone who wants them. Since beginning in 2023, we’ve released Saul, Samson, Rodelinda, and more. We believe this music needs to be heard by the widest audience possible, with no barriers.

It costs in excess of £75,000 to rehearse and film a Handel opera, through performance, recording, editing, post-production, and subtitling, and this is not covered by YouTube revenue. It’s all possible thanks to those who support our work.

When The English Concert began, we first met our audience through the rapidly-expanding home recordings of the 1980s and 90s. We see Handel for All as a variation on this theme, and a way to embrace the new technology of the 21st century. Handel for All is the aspect of our activities that anyone, anywhere, can reach.

What happens next. When you submit, we will be in touch within two working days to confirm your Direct Debit. Your first payment will leave your account on the 1st of next month, or the next 1st after that if there is not enough notice. You can cancel at any time by contacting your bank or us.

The Direct Debit Guarantee — what it protects

The Direct Debit Guarantee — issued by all banks and building societies that accept instructions to pay Direct Debits. If there are any changes to the amount, date or frequency of your Direct Debit The English Concert will notify you (normally 10 working days) in advance of your account being debited or as otherwise agreed. If you request The English Concert to collect a payment, confirmation of the amount and date will be given to you at the time of the request. If an error is made in the payment of your Direct Debit, by The English Concert or your bank or building society, you are entitled to a full and immediate refund of the amount paid from your bank or building society. If you receive a refund you are not entitled to, you must pay it back when The English Concert asks you to. You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by simply contacting your bank or building society. Written confirmation may be required. Please also notify us.

Levels of support

Handel Supporters — up to £4,999 per year

We welcome gifts at this level to provide general support and help bring this programme to life. In particular, we encourage supporters at this level to consider making a multi-year pledge of support to help us to plan ahead with confidence.

Handel Champions — £5,000+ per year

Donors at this level may wish to make an important contribution to one of the defined strands of Handel for All, such as: Recordings and Performances, Learning and Participation, or Talent Development. Handel Champions are invited to attend Handel for All recording sessions where possible.

Handel Benefactors — £10,000+ per year

Support from our Handel Benefactors will be vital in underpinning our major projects. Donors at this level may choose to direct their support towards particular areas of their interest. With so many facets of the programme to choose from, we would be delighted to have a conversation with you about the various options. Handel Benefactors will be invited to attend rehearsals and recording sessions, and to meet the musicians where possible. We recognise donors at this level against their chosen projects.

Director’s Circle — £50,000+ per year

For the most substantial gifts to Handel for All. Director’s Circle donors work directly with Harry Bicket and the Chief Executive on the shape of the programme; recognition and stewardship are agreed individually. Please get in touch to discuss.
