Help us record Handel’s Tamerlano

·

Following from our recording of Handel’s Rodelinda in September, we are announcing an ambitious plan to record the next instalment of our Handel opera cycle Tamerlano. We have a sensational cast including Bejun Mehta, Sophie Bevan and Michael Spyres, set to dazzle like the superstar singers Handel wrote it for.

Our musicians have suffered enormous losses during the pandemic. The Rodelinda recording in September (see video below) was crucial to both support them financially and to reignite our purpose. This recording will contribute further to the recovery of The English Concert, investing in the brilliance of our artists, ensuring that we maintain all the skills and expertise gained over many years and preserve this legacy for future generations to enjoy.

All donations received through the Big Give will go to the musicians.

We have now raised £30,000 of our £40,000 target! Please, help us make the final £10,000.

As a small token of our appreciating we would offer in return:

  • £50 – £149   A complimentary recording to download and your name on The English Concert website
  • £150 – £299   As above plus a complimentary CD
  • £300 – £999   As above plus a dedication to someone or your name in the CD booklet and an invitation to a pre-recording rehearsal.
  • £1,000 or more   As above plus an invitation to a recording session to see the process and meet the artists
