Countertenor

Tim Morgan

British countertenor Tim Morgan has established himself as one of the foremost exponents of his voice type. He trained as a member of the tenth edition of Les Arts Florissants’ Jardin des Voix, and is a finalist of both the London Handel Festival Singing Competition (2026) and the Kathleen Ferrier Awards (2019). In 2023 he sang at the coronation of HRH King Charles III.

On the operatic stage, Tim made his debut with Welsh National Opera as the Voice of Apollo in Britten’s Death in Venice, and has sung Armindo in Handel’s Partenope with Les Arts Florissants. With English Touring Opera he has taken the title roles in Handel’s Amadigi di Gaula and Giulio Cesare and sung Ottone in Agrippina, and his other stage work includes Adamo in Francesco Conti’s La Colpa Originale with Dorothee Oberlinger and Ensemble 1700, Oberon in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Nevill Holt Opera, and Samuel Adams’s Gabriel with The English Concert and Alison Balsom.

On the concert platform, Tim has given a recital of Britten’s Canticles and arrangements of Purcell songs with Ian Bostridge and Julius Drake in the Alhambra Palace, Granada, and performed Schütz and Schein with the Monteverdi Choir and Sir John Eliot Gardiner. His oratorio and concert work ranges across Handel’s Messiah with the English Chamber Orchestra and Nicholas Kraemer, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with Polyphony and Stephen Layton, Handel’s Dixit Dominus with La Nuova Musica, and Purcell’s King Arthur with Vox Luminis. He has also appeared with Ensemble Polyharmonique at the Händel-Festspiele Halle and in duet recitals with Michael Chance.

Alongside his work in classical music, Tim’s projects have ranged more widely: he sang on the soundtrack of Emerald Fennell’s film Saltburn, collaborated with the multimedia artist Young-Jun Tak on his work Wohin?, and recorded for PJ Harvey’s 2023 album I Inside the Old Year Dying.
